Tikanga-led Impact Investment
Te Pai Roa Tika O Te Taitokerau, a Tikanga-led impact investment platform, is indigenous wisdom in action.
Developed by a consortium of seven Taitokerau Iwi, they first applied their kawa and tikanga frameworks to define what good looks like for them, then built the investment platform as a means to realize their vision.
These four guides are designed to share some of the learnings from their collaboration.
In these guides, the visual language is important. The Takarangi spiral speaks to cyclical connections and symbiotic relationships. Within the spiral is a crescent shape. It represents “unaunahi” a carving pattern that means “fish scales.” Fish scales represent an abundance of fish, which equates to having great kaitiaki over resources and the ability to provide for yourself and others. Ultimately, this is the outcome of all our inputs and outputs - to create sustainable, lasting economic, cultural and spiritual growth for Māori.
